The proposed workflow

From a document to a reviewed copy

These are planned capabilities. File handling and the processing architecture are not implemented.

01

Find the details

Search names or patterns. Check scanned pages with OCR where needed.

02

Review in context

Confirm each zone, page by page. Keep the information the recipient actually needs.

03

Export, then verify

Apply redaction, inspect hidden content and verify the exported copy before sharing.

What a careful review includes

There is more to a PDF than the page you see.

The future product must distinguish these layers and explain what it has actually checked.

Human review remains essential. Detection can miss a value or flag something that should stay.

Selectable text

A visible phrase can also exist in a searchable text layer.

Scans and images

A scan can contain printed, handwritten or photographed personal information. OCR can miss details.

Comments and attachments

Annotations, embedded files and optional layers require a separate inspection.

Metadata

Author names, document properties and revision details may remain outside the page.

Choose the tool for the job

There are good tools already. Start with the right checks.

PDFRedactLab is a workflow concept, not a replacement claim for every PDF editor.

Apple Preview

A built-in Redaction tool on Mac. A drawing or annotation is a different operation.

Availability and methods were checked on 15 October 2026. Verify the exported result and the tool’s current conditions.

Made for the moment before sharing

One last review, with a specific recipient in mind.

Client case files

Keep the timeline and evidence. Review names, addresses and references before sending an external copy.

Recruitment documents

Share relevant experience while checking contact details and candidate identifiers.

Supplier and project files

Preserve the specification. Review personal contacts and internal references the recipient does not need.
